Landsat 4

Landsat is a land remote sensing satellite program, conceived by USGS (United States Geographical Survey) and developed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in the United States. Landsat-4 was launched in July 1982 and was decommissioned in June 2001. The primary objective was to monitor Earth’s resources via multispectral, high spatial resolution images of solar radiation reflected from Earth’s surface.

The Meteorological Operational satellite program (MetOp) is a collaboration between the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT). MetOp-A launched in October 2006 and retired in November 2021. The primary objective was to provide temperature and humidity profiles on the atmosphere, as well as wind speed and direction above the ocean data for Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP).
