HEO Robotics teams up with Satellogic to transform in-space servicing

HEO Robotics is thrilled to announce that it is collaborating with Satellogic. The work is focused on empowering in-space servicing by integrating HEO’s flyby inspection and computer-vision capabilities with Satellogic’s high-resolution satellite imagery and growing satellite constellation.

HEO Robotics is a pioneer of satellite-to-satellite imagery. It was the first private company to offer in-orbit satellite inspection services. Today, the company’s unique capability is delivered through its proprietary software platform, HEO Inspect.

Dr William Crowe, CEO and Co-Founder of HEO Robotics, says “It’s an exciting time to be part of the in-space services economy. The data and insights provided by HEO Inspect, powered by Satellogic, are already having tremendous impact on in-space servicing applications. Our collaboration with Satellogic is allowing us to monitor satellites and space objects in near-real time.”

“At HEO Robotics, we've implemented a “no UFO” policy, as it's critical to identify space objects to maintain space and Earth safety” says Crowe. Orbital debris is a growing risk for the continuity of in-space services and for physical space assets. On 18 August 2022, HEO Robotics released a White Paper identifying a previously unidentified object known only to the western world as ‘2021-033K’ or ‘Object K’ as space debris, likely a half of a payload fairing of a Long March 6 rocket. The images used in the report were taken using Satellogic satellites. By joining forces with Satellogic we can achieve this goal of improving space transparency and making space safer for all.

Luciano Giesso, head of Global Governments at Satellogic, added: “We are excited to be able to leverage the power of our high-resolution, high-frequency satellite constellation to contribute to space and Earth safety in such an effective way.”

Through this collaboration, we are shaping innovations that care for the space environment and celebrating our shared values of making space safer for all. Welcome to the new era of in-space servicing.

About HEO Robotics

HEO Robotics was founded under the belief that space should be transparent. Today, HEO Robotics is pioneering software and hardware technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate mission to image anything within the Solar System on demand.

HEO Robotics is the world’s first commercial in-orbit satellite inspection company. We help defence, governments, and commercial operators to visually monitor their spacecraft and other space objects they care about. Our proprietary software transforms Earth observation satellites into in-orbit inspection cameras. We generate valuable and unprecedented insights through computer vision techniques. Space-based sensors allow us to get close to space objects and collect data at a resolution superior to Earth-based space domain awareness (SDA) solutions. HEO Robotics inspection services are currently available for LEO. Plans are in place to extend the operations to GEO and Lunar orbits.
