Tokyo, Japan [April 30, 2026] — HEO announced today the opening of its Tokyo office, the company's fourth globally, joining established operations in Sydney, London, and Arlington, Virginia. The move follows years of close engagement with commercial operators and government customers across Japan, and marks a natural next step in that relationship.
Having worked alongside Japanese government and commercial entities for several years, HEO’s decision to establish a permanent physical presence in Tokyo is a strategic commitment to foster closer technical integration, accelerate information sharing, and contribute to the robust development of Japan’s space ecosystem.
Japan is one of the most active SDA markets in the world and plays a critical role in the Indo-Pacific space security environment. With dedicated SDA infrastructure expansion underway and a clear government mandate to strengthen on-orbit space domain awareness, Japan is building the capability to capture, assess, and act on space data. HEO is well positioned to support those goals, by bringing proven non-Earth imaging (NEI) expertise to help Japan develop capability across the full intelligence cycle, from collection through to analysis and decision-making at scale.
“We’ve been building strong relationships here for years and what we’ve seen is a market that is serious, capable, and moving fast,” said Dr. Will Crowe, CEO & Co-Founder of HEO. “Opening HEO Japan is our commitment to work alongside our partners for the long-term, building local capacity, integrating with existing infrastructure, and ensuring Japanese agencies have the visual intelligence to monitor assets they care about.”
The opening marks a significant step in HEO's international growth, positioning the company to directly support Japan's government and commercial satellite operators as a long-term partner for in-space space domain awareness.
The new office will be led by Yuri D. Sasaki, Head of HEO Japan, an industry veteran with an impressive track record in the commercial and government sectors. The Tokyo office will support business development, customer engagement, and analyst training across Japan and the broader Asia-Pacific region.
